Meubels maakte Paul Latta altijd al en het kon dan ook niet uitblijven dat hij met zijn wiskundige achtergrond een passie ontwikkelde voor afwijkende vormen en dan in het bijzonder voor reliëfs. De combinatie van ritmische geometrische herhalingen enschaduwwerking geven een helder en regelmatig patroon waarin het materiaal goed tot expressie komt.Reliëfs maken is spelen met licht en schaduw. Ze ogen misschien ietwat streng maar toegepast in meubels geven ze juist een unieke uitstraling.

In mijn meubels staan vorm, lijnenspel en materiaal centraal. Het liefst met ingewikkelde hoeken en mooie hout verbindingen. De ritmische herhalingen zijn ook terug te vinden in veel van mijn hout objecten. Door rangschikking, verschuiving en draaiing van blokjes hout met dezelfde vorm ontstaan objecten die vaak een natuurlijke oorsprong lijken te hebben.

Paul Latta has always made furniture, and it was inevitable that with his mathematical background he developed a passion for unconventional shapes, particularly reliefs. The combination of rhythmic geometric repetitions and shadowing creates a clear and regular pattern in which the material is well expressed. Creating reliefs is playing with light and shadow. They may look somewhat severe, but when used in furniture, they give a unique and distinctive appearance.

In my furniture, form, play of lines, and materials are central. I prefer intricate angles and beautiful wood connections. The rhythmic repetitions can also be found in many of my wooden objects. Through arrangement, shifting, and rotation of wooden blocks with the same shape, objects are created that often seem to have a natural origin.
